In addition to coaching at Cal, Onstead has held numerous positions at the National and International level.
This spring, Onstead became an assistant coach to the US Women’s National team as they prepare to earn a berth in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
Onstead has also served as head coach for several international tours with US U19 and U16 teams. In 2002, Onstead was an analyst for the US women’s World Cup team that placed 9th in Perth, Austrailia. Prior to that, she assisted with the US men’s teams at both the junior and senior levels, including serving as the head coach to the men’s U16 National team for three years, during which she was honored as U.S. Field Hockey Association's National Coach of the Year in 1999.
She has served as a selector and coach at A Camp for both the men and women. In 2005, she was the Assistant Coach for the Under 21 Men's Team at the Jr. Pan American Games in Havana, Cuba. In April ‘05, Onstead helped coach the U.S. Junior Elite Girls team on tour in Holland.
Currently the head coach for the US Field Hockey San Francisco High Performance Training Center, Onstead is responsible for the development and training of regional talent for the men, women and juniors.
